You're not really as above it all as you think you are.
Trust me.

Of course you've heard of American Idol
Even if you've never idled
Long enough to pay attention
To the show you'd never mention

Would it destroy your indie cred to
Admit you've seen just one or two
Of the mass media banality
Oh the intellectual tragedy

No Kardashians or Jersey Shore
And you seem so very sure
Poised above the unwashed masses
In your tats and retro glasses

Anti-corporate and well-read
Politics this side of red
Your parents spend their day toiling
At something bourgeoisie and boring

I've worshipped at an elitist altar
A plumber caused my view to alter
Fixed my toilet, charged me more
Than poetry buys at the store.

I really enjoyed this one - for reasons I think are obvious enough. Grin!

Hi Michelle, just to let you know you have one big fan here in South Africa! Ive just read Scape goat in the American Sort Story site and i am blown away, it's so real and so lovely. And the perfect ending! I've wandered around your blog but can't find links to any other of your stories which i would love to read.
Cheers Ginny Cape Town.
